But Manila, Philippines-based musician-producer CERUMENTRIC, maker of otherworldly synthrock/synthwave songs with heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics, is all about keeping it real, messy, stark, cluttered, but hopeful and honest.
After spending more than 10 years being rejected or ignored by record labels, radio stations, and most music bloggers, Erick A. Fabian, the sole member, singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist, decided to take matters into his own hands and do practically everything himself. He even designed most of the cover art for his releases and at times shot his own music videos and press photos.
Erick never hides the fact that his studio equipment is very modest, but the quality of his performance, songwriting, and production work is more than enough evidence of his musical prowess. He believes that an unbeatable desire to make music that can inspire social rejects and outcasts to empower themselves and seek self-determination, is more than enough to makes things happen and create change in people's lives.
As a musical artist, CERUMENTRIC is an advocate of self-empowerment, DIY ethics, self-care, body positivity, and artistic integrity. He has a soft spot for the downtrodden and for people considered insignificant by larger society.
