imageI’ve been using eBay for awhile now, and honestly, some of the stuff people buy still surprises me. ( I go through my house with the eBay camera search on the app often ) it’s quite a thrill finding out something you own and don’t use is worth a pretty penny!

Most people think you need a giant eBay store or thousands of dollars worth of inventory to make money online. In reality, a lot of my sales have simply been random things I already owned, collectibles I’ve picked up over the years, or items I found through local deals and trades.

I definitely wouldn’t call eBay a full-time income for myself personally, but it’s been a great side hustle and has brought in hundreds of dollars that I wouldn’t have otherwise made. Some people do eBay full-time!

Below are some real examples of things I’ve sold on eBay and the payouts that followed.

🏆 My Best Recent Sale

One of my favorite recent sales was actually a vintage Crown Royal hacky sack I picked up for $25 at a local antique store.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much from it.

It ended up selling for nearly $129.

That’s one of the reasons I like eBay so much.

Something that might sit forever locally can suddenly become valuable when collectors across North America can see it.

🎮 Video Games

Video games have probably been my most consistent category.

Some recent sales include:

Games are great because they’re easy to store, easy to ship, and there’s always someone looking for a title they missed growing up.

🃏 Pokémon Cards

I also sold a Charizard EX card.

I’m definitely not a huge card seller, but Pokémon cards are one of those things that can be worth a lot more than people realize.

It’s always worth checking current prices before assuming a card isn’t worth much.

🍵 Random Household Stuff

Not everything needs to be rare.

I’ve also sold things like a Chinese Gongfu tea set.

A lot of people overthink eBay and assume they need expensive inventory to get started.

You really don’t.

People buy all kinds of things.

💰 My Recent eBay Payouts

imageimageimageimageThese are real payouts sent directly from eBay to my bank account. None of these were huge business sales either. Most came from random collectibles, old video games, and items I already owned.

The money slowly adds up.

A video game here.

A collectible there.

A random household item you forgot you owned.

Before long you’ve got a few hundred dollars that would’ve otherwise been sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

That’s what I like most about eBay.

You don’t need huge wins.

Just consistent sales.

Why I Still Use eBay

I use Facebook Marketplace too, and honestly I probably use Marketplace more often.

But eBay has one huge advantage:

More buyers.

If you’ve got something collectible, vintage, niche, or just plain unusual, eBay puts it in front of people actively searching for it.

That’s hard to beat.

Is Selling on eBay Worth It?

For me, absolutely.

Pros

✅ Huge audience

✅ Easy shipping labels

✅ Great for collectibles

✅ Great for video games

✅ Great for niche items

✅ Turns unused stuff into cash

Cons

❌ Seller fees

❌ Shipping takes time

❌ Occasional returns

Even with the fees, I’ve found many items sell for significantly more than they would locally.

My Advice

Before spending money on inventory, look around your house first.

•Old video games.

•Pokémon cards.

•Collectibles.

•Electronics.

•Tools.

•Hobby supplies.

Most people already own something worth selling.

You might be surprised what people are willing to pay for.

Final Thoughts

eBay isn’t the biggest money-maker in my side hustle lineup, but it’s definitely one of the easiest.

A lot of these sales came from things I already owned or items I picked up through trades and local deals.

If you’ve got stuff sitting around collecting dust, it might be worth checking what it’s actually worth before donating it or throwing it away.

You never know what someone is looking for.
