Your Body Has a Story. Are You Listening?

Recently, I had the pleasure of presenting at Verity, an experience centred on female health and hormonal optimization, where I was invited to share a message that is very close to my heart.

It was an opportunity to talk about something I believe many women can relate to: how easily we can become so busy looking after everyone else that we forget to check in with ourselves.

We remember appointments, manage responsibilities, support our families and show up for the people we love. We keep going, often without noticing the tension in our shoulders, the shallow breaths we take, or the tiredness we have learned to push aside.

Until our bodies make it impossible to ignore.

But what if we didn’t have to wait until we reached that point?

What if we began paying attention to the quieter messages our bodies offer us every day?

During my presentation, I invited the women to experience a simple movement called the Cross Crawl. Together, we took a few moments to move, breathe and notice how we felt.

It was a small exercise, but it offered a lovely reminder: sometimes, simply bringing our attention back to ourselves can make a difference in how we experience the moment.

This connects beautifully with what I value about my work as a Bowen Therapist.

Bowen Therapy offers a gentle, hands-on approach that many people find deeply relaxing. In my practice, I aim to create a calm, comfortable space where people can step away from the demands of everyday life and give themselves permission to simply be.

There is no need to accomplish anything during that time. No one else to look after. No list to complete.

Just an opportunity to pause and allow yourself some care and attention.

Because your wellbeing matters, too.

I am grateful to Kathryn “RaRa” Asaro Mayers, Founder and CEO of THE BRIDGE Empowers, for bringing us together and inviting me to be part of this experience.

As a proud BRIDGE Ambassador for over 10 years, it was especially meaningful to contribute my work to this community and to the wonderful experience RaRa has created.

I came away from the presentation with one thought I hope we can all carry into our everyday lives:

The next time you notice your shoulders tightening, find yourself rushing from one thing to another, or realize you’ve been holding your breath, take a moment.

Pause.

Breathe.

And gently ask yourself:

“What do I need right now?”

You may not have the answer immediately. And that’s okay.

Noticing is where it begins. 💚

Thank you for being here and for taking a moment to read and reflect with me.

If you’re curious about Bowen Therapy, or would simply like to know more about what a session involves, I’d love to hear from you.

I’m Carolyn Jackson, Bowen Therapist.

Let me Bowen You!

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to pause and really listen to your body?
