Paul @ Canes and Chronicles

Acerca de Paul @ Canes and Chronicles

Hello, and welcome!

I’m Paul—a lifelong martial artist, history buff, and lover of a good story.

I picked up fiction writing in my 50s, stepping into it not as a master, but as an eager student of the craft. Since then, I’ve learned a great deal, written even more, and fallen in love with bringing forgotten corners of history and martial tradition to life.

My focus is simple: to tell the stories of the people and places that make these worlds feel real. I write to share those human moments with you: the grit, the old-world charm, the quiet spooks, and the unexpected choices that define us.

If you enjoy stepping into these worlds and want to support the journey, consider buying me a coffee. Every cup helps keep the ink flowing as I work toward my next big milestone: publishing a novel and short story collection.

Take a moment for yourself, dive into a tale, and thank you for being part of the story!

Happy Reading,

Paul

The old dogtrot cabin sat tucked into the slope, its tin roof...

The Sin-Eater of the Hollow (Part 4 of The Ash-Hound) By Paul Koontz The ash-hound led them off the high ridge just as the grey winter sun dropped behind the hemlocks, plunging the deep notch into premature twilight. The timber road turned slick with frozen clay, winding down into a hidden pocket of the mountain that maps had long forgotten. Through the skeletal branches of the oaks, Liam saw the ...

Crossing the Threshold (Part 3 of The Ash Hound) By Paul Koontz The ash-hound did not look back as the trees began to thin. Liam’s boots were split across the toes, the freezing mud of the gaps oozing through his grey wool socks with every step. He was lightheaded from three days on nothing but wintergreens and charred acorns, his Springfield rifle swinging limply from his shoulder by its leathe...
