A proposito di Briar Meadow Farm Diaries
a smalhomestead being created from an abandoned briar patch in Ireland
Hello from Briar Meadow! We’re Dave and Amanda — former UK teachers who traded classrooms for cabbages, exams for egg-laying, and commutes for mud. Last year we packed up our lives, brought Dave’s octogenarian parents along for the adventure (plus their tiny Shih Tzu and our two chaos gremlins), and settled into a new life in the wild beauty of County Mayo.
In less than a year, our little homestead has exploded into a full-blown menagerie: two rehomed farm dogs, five ex-feral kittens, two goats, twelve chickens, and four rabbits… with more livestock very determinedly on the way. We’ve absolutely hit the ground running — sometimes literally, usually after a goat.
As we build this semi–self-sufficient life from the ground up, we’re sharing the journey: the wins, the mistakes, the mud, the magic, and everything in between. If you enjoy following along and want to help us keep creating honest, useful, and entertaining content, you can support us by “buying us a coffee” now and then.
Thank you so much for being here — it means the world, and it keeps us going (caffeine helps too). ☕💚
