In a restorative yoga class, we hold the poses longer, for 3-10 minutes. I talk less and let you turn inwards to be in your body and with your true self. It's a good chance to give your mind and body a break. You can also make the class your own by lighting a candle, and adding your own soft music in the background.
Yoga blocks and a bolster are helpful but regular or decorative pillows or cushions can easily be used as substitutes. A blanket is also helpful.
