I spent my morning contorted under the kitchen sink wrestling with my water filtration system. It is a beast of a unit with six different stages and changing the filters is a project I always dread. You have to shut off the valves and unscrew these heavy canisters that are always stuck tight from the pressure. It is wet and messy work. But as I pulled the old sediment filter out I looked at the color of it. It was dark brown and coated in a thin layer of slime. That is the stuff that came out of the "safe" municipal tap water in just six months.
I actually looked up the local water quality reports last night and it terrified me. You scroll through these lists of contaminants that sound like they belong in a science fiction movie. They list the "legal limits" for things like industrial runoff and heavy metals. They tell you it is safe because it is below a certain number. But who decided that number? Who decided that a little bit of poison was okay for my family to drink? It reinforced something I have suspected for a long time. If you want something truly clean you have to purify it yourself.
People tell me all the time that they can't taste the difference. They say water is water and that I am wasting my time. But I have always been able to tell. I know the difference between clean water and water that is just chemically treated to pass a minimum standard. The news is no different. The official channels pump out a narrative that they claim is safe for consumption. But if you don't have a serious filtration system of your own you end up swallowing a lot of toxicity that you never even tasted going down. Letโs change the filters and see what we catch today.

They are bypassing the courts to build dossiers on dissenters.
๐ง๐ฅ The Wages of Sin: Why Unpaid ICE Agents Are Getting Exactly What They Deserve... The foot soldiers of the deportation force are learning a hard lesson about loyalty. Agents who signed up for a promised $50,000 signing bonus are in revolt after finding out the money isn't there or is being indefinitely delayed. They were happy to enforce cruelty on others but are shocked to find the administration is just as cruel to its own employees.
I just finished flushing the system and poured myself the first glass. It is crystal clear and tastes like absolutely nothing, which is exactly how water is supposed to taste. It is worth the hassle and the expense to know that I am not drinking the runoff that someone else decided was "good enough."
There is a peace of mind that comes with holding that glass. You know exactly what went into it and more importantly you know what didn't. You aren't wondering if the pipes are old or if the city cut corners this month. You took control of the input. That is the only way to survive in a world that is constantly trying to feed you low quality filler. You have to be the gatekeeper for your own body and your own mind.
Don't let anyone tell you that you are crazy for wanting the truth pure. Don't let them tell you that you can't taste the difference. We know what clean feels like and we are going to keep filtering until we get it. Stay safe and keep your heads up.
P.S. I prefer some alkalinity, and I prefer a mason jar. I also have a habit of re-rinsing glasses after the dishwasher, but thatโs a story for another time.
