We all know the Grinch. He lives on a mountain, looking down at the chaos of Whoville, annoyed by the "noise, noise, noise" of a society that has lost its mind. Today, I know exactly how he feels.
If you look at the news cycle this Monday, it isn't filled with holiday cheer. It is filled with the loud, clanging cymbals of egos that are too big for the room and policies that are too cruel for the season. The politicians are feasting on "Who-pudding" (and taxpayer money) while slashing the safety net for everyone else.
I have combed through the wreckage of the weekend news so you don't have to. I’ve sorted it into the things I loathe entirely, the schemes that smell like a sauerkraut sandwich, and the few moments that actually made my heart grow three sizes. Here is the situation report.
🤢 "Hate, Hate, Hate... Loathe Entirely." The stories that prove the leadership in Washington has a heart two sizes too small.
The Bottomless Pit: Attacking the Dead. The President cannot even let the dead rest. Less than 24 hours after legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife were found murdered, Donald Trump took to Truth Social not to mourn, but to diagnose the victim with "Trump Derangement Syndrome." It is petty, it is pathological, and it is a new low even for him. He made a tragedy about himself before the bodies were even cold.
The Gold-Plated Grift: The "Trump Card." The President is now selling American citizenship for $1 million, and he put his own face on the ID card. This isn't a policy; it’s a loyalty program for oligarchs. If I tried to pull a scam this tacky, they’d kick me off Mt. Crumpit. It turns the promise of liberty into a QVC pitch.
The Betrayal of the Brave: Slicing the VA. While they plan grand ballrooms, they are firing doctors. The VA is quietly slashing 35,000 healthcare positions…a 10% cut to the workforce. Apparently, "support our troops" expires the moment those troops need a nurse.
The Poisoned Air: Formaldehyde is "Fine." The EPA just doubled the "safe" limit for formaldehyde because chemical lobbyists asked nicely. Yes, the cancer-causing poison. I’m a monster who lives in a garbage dump, and even I think the air quality is getting questionable.
The Rot at the Top: Epstein Photos. We saw the photos. Trump condoms, Steve Bannon selfies, and a framed photo of an unconscious woman on a desk. It confirms what we suspected: these aren't public servants; they are a predator class that views people as commodities.
The Emperor’s New Skyline. He’s bulldozing historic New Deal buildings to build a "Freedom Arc" and a private ballroom. He is literally paving over the history of a government that served the people to build a shrine to himself.
🐕 "Max, Fetch Me My Cloak." The suspicious stories I need to sneak into town to investigate, because something smells fishy.
The Convenient Terror: The "Turtle Island" Plot. Right when the administration was taking heat for the "Trump Card" and the "Ghost Plane," the FBI miraculously foiled a "far-left" terror plot in the desert. The timing is perfect. The branding is perfect. Almost too perfect. When the narrative fits the Attorney General's talking points this well, you have to ask if the FBI found the plot or funded it.
The Silent Purge: Killing the Unions. The House revolted to save civil service union rights, but the Senate is sharpening the knife. This isn't about efficiency; it's about firing anyone who says "no" to the King. They want a government of henchmen, not experts.
The Class War Pivot: Elite Colleges. With affirmative action dead, Ivy League schools are frantically pivoting to "economic diversity" to buy back the demographics they lost. It’s a "class war" workaround, and the legal battles are already starting.
💗 "And His Heart Grew Three Sizes." Fine. I admit it. These stories actually made me smile.
The Fruit Shop Hero: Ahmed al Ahmed. In the midst of the Bondi Beach tragedy, a Muslim fruit shop owner tackled a gunman to save a Jewish Hanukkah celebration. He didn't check the polls; he just saved lives. In a world trying to divide us, he proved that courage has no religion.
Action, Not Thoughts: Australia Leads. While America tweets "thoughts and prayers," Australian leaders met immediately after the tragedy to tighten gun laws. They saw blood on the ground and picked up a pen to fix it. It’s almost like they care about keeping their citizens alive. A weird concept, I know.
That is the dispatch for the day. It’s loud out there. The Grinches are stealing the roast beast (and the healthcare), but there are still Whos down in Whoville singing despite it all.
I’m going back to my cave to stare into the abyss. You try to have a better Monday than the news cycle wants you to.
