Building The Road Back — a veteran-led truck camper, travel, and recov
I’m James, an Army veteran and former medic. “Bravo Bandaid” was my callsign, and it became the name behind a project I’m building called The Road Back.
I live with PTSD, and over time I found myself becoming more isolated than I wanted to be. The Road Back is my way of changing that.
I’m building a lightweight truck camper on my 2021 Toyota Tundra so I can travel, spend more time outdoors with my PTSD service dog Liberty, attend veteran and community events, meet people, and document what it looks like to start getting back into the world.
This isn’t about pretending everything is fixed. It’s about moving forward, one mile and one project at a time.
Building a camper. Rebuilding myself.
Healing doesn’t always happen sitting still.
