Finally, Kayam/Tahitian chestnut (Inocarpus fagifer) is dropped on the ground. The Tahitian Chestnut is a medium-sized, evergreen tropical tree. Trees begin flowering at 3–5 years old, but starts bearing fruit at about eight years old. The seed kernels serve as an important indigenous food in many island countries in the Pacific. Methods of preparation include roasting, grilling, boiling and baking.
