Welcome to the Black Family BBQ! Also called the Cookout!
If you've never gone, you are missing out but we are here to help you get that valuable invite. We are here to help you learn about Black culture so your Black coworkers don't have to codeswitch when they talk in front of you. No more FOMO for you, we will help you secure that invite!
We will introduce multiple resources to learn more about Black words, culture, and experiences. Not limited to just a book club, we explore experiences from the Black, Black African, or Black World cultural history before you read the book.
We will explore the origin of words, how they are used and where they show up in today's culture. We want to help you understand Ebonics and African American Vernacular, to help you when you hear or read it, you recognize its origin and meaning.
We will do this through a series of books, articles, videos and interviews culminated in a monthly activity newsletter. In each newsletter, we will discuss it in our Black Cookout community. We appreciate your input or questions to spur community within the family.
