Bitcoin Halving: A Game Changer

The Bitcoin halving is a significant event that happens approximately every four years or after every 210,000 blocks are mined. During this event, the reward for mining new bitcoin is reduced by half to ensure that the total number of Bitcoin in circulation will never exceed 21 million. This strategy helps to make Bitcoin a deflationary asset with inherent scarcity.

The impact of halving goes beyond supply dynamics and has a fundamental influence on Bitcoin’s price. Based on historical data, Bitcoin tends to enter a bull market with rising prices after each halving event. This is due to the reduced supply, which creates increased demand and a lower inflation rate, leading to higher prices.

Historical Halving Outcomes

Let’s see the three previous Bitcoin halving events and their corresponding price surges:

· 2012 Halving: The block reward was reduced from 50 to 25 bitcoin. Bitcoin’s price increased by 9,000%, soaring from $12 to $1,100 in 2013.

· 2016 Halving: Again, the block reward was halved to 12.5 bitcoin in 2017, causing a 2,800% increase in its price from $650 to $19,000.

· 2020 Halving: The block reward for Bitcoin was again reduced to 6.25 Bitcoin in 2020. In 2021, Bitcoin’s price surged by 350% from $9,000 to $41,000.

· The Next Halving, April 2024: The block reward for Bitcoin will reduce to 3.125 bitcoin during the upcoming halving in April 2024. Experts anticipate another bull market to follow, potentially driving Bitcoin’s price to new highs.

Now, Let’s Get Into Bitcoin Price Predictions for 2024

While predicting Bitcoin’s exact price is a challenging task because there are various influencing factors and uncertainties, there are several predictions from different sources:

· PlanB: Renowned Bitcoin analyst PlanB predicts Bitcoin could reach an all-time high of $524,000 in the next four years.

· Blockware Solutions: Blockware Solutions analysts suggest Bitcoin price could reach $400,000 after the 2024 halving.

· VanEck, A global investment fund, has predicted that Bitcoin could reach new all-time highs by Q4 2024.

Most experts and analysts agree that Bitcoin is likely to experience another bullish phase after the upcoming halving, potentially reaching new all-time highs above $100,000. However, it’s important to note that Bitcoin’s growth path is not without risks and challenges, including regulatory changes, increased competition, and ongoing innovation within the cryptocurrency industry.

So, Is $100,000 on the table?

According to a recent survey by the crypto trading platform Bitget, 84% of crypto holders believe that, after the halving, Bitcoin will exceed the 2021 bull market all-time high at around $69,000, with 41% of the surveyed investors in Western European countries expecting it to surpass $100,000.

“Bitcoin is the ideal investment as a digital alternative to gold, with potential to 325X,” according to Michael Saylor, CEO of Microstrategy. He believes that Bitcoin was undervalued in 2020, but it has the potential to rise 325 times in value due to its ability to transform industries and institutions and its role as a digital alternative to gold.

As Michael Saylor has said, “Bitcoin is digital gold — growing harder, smarter, faster, & stronger due to the relentless progression of technology.”

Lucas Kiely, the Chief Information Officer of Yield App, a digital wealth management platform, has highlighted the impressive performance of Bitcoin in previous halvings. He has shared his expectation that the largest digital asset by market capitalization could reach a high price of $100,000 this year. According to him:

“If growth rates during previous halving years are anything to go by, and given Bitcoin’s stellar performance over the past couple of months, we will reach that coveted $100K all-time high within 2024.”

Taras Kulyk, the founder and CEO of SunnySide Digital, which is a well-known provider of data center hardware and infrastructure services for the Bitcoin mining industry, agrees with Kiely’s predictions. He also expects that Bitcoin’s price will be between $60,000 and $100,000 by the end of this year. Kulyk bases his prediction on the historical pricing impacts of the halving.

Now, Let’s Wrap Up

The upcoming Bitcoin halving event in April 2024 has caught the attention of investors and analysts around the world. Past data suggests that after every halving event, a bull market follows, which often results in Bitcoin achieving new price highs. And while expert predictions vary, there are some that believe that Bitcoin could surpass the previous all-time high before the April Halving.
