VENUS RETROGRADE 2026 ♀️ October 3 – November 13, 2026

Oct 02, 2026

Scorpio → Libra

What you want is being questioned. So is why you want it.

Venus retrograde begins in Scorpio on October 3, 2026, at 8° Scorpio 30′.

Then on October 25, Venus retrogrades back into Libra, returning to territory it moved through earlier this year.

Venus turns direct on November 13 at 22° Libra 52′. (Cafe Astrology)

This makes this retrograde more layered than a simple Venus-in-Scorpio transit.

Scorpio asks:

What do I actually desire?

What am I attached to?

What am I afraid of losing?

What happens when intimacy gets real?

Libra asks:

Is this relationship reciprocal?

Is this fair?

Am I compromising because I genuinely want to, or because I don’t want conflict?

Do I actually like the life I’m creating with other people?

So Venus spends the first part of the retrograde going deeper, then returns to Libra to reconsider what you’ve discovered.

WHAT VENUS RETROGRADE IS REALLY REVIEWING

Venus isn’t only about romance.

Venus describes your relationship with:

Love
Desire
Money
Beauty
Pleasure
Self-worth
Values
Relationships
What you attract and choose

When Venus retrogrades, these areas become less automatic.

Something you previously accepted may suddenly require another look.

A relationship may need to be reconsidered.

A financial pattern may become obvious.

Something you thought you wanted may not feel as satisfying anymore.

You may reconnect with an old desire.

Someone from the past may resurface.

You may look at your appearance differently.

You may question whether you’re pursuing something because you actually want it or because you learned that wanting it would make you valuable.

That’s the deeper purpose of a Venus retrograde.

Not simply:

“Will my ex come back?”

But:

“Why did I want that relationship in the first place?”

WHY SCORPIO COMES FIRST

Venus begins this retrograde in Scorpio.

And Scorpio doesn’t do surface-level reassessment.

It wants to know what’s underneath the desire.

You may become more aware of:

  • Jealousy

  • Attachment

  • Possessiveness

  • Fear of rejection

  • Fear of abandonment

  • Sexual desire

  • Emotional dependency

  • Power dynamics

  • Trust

  • Shared money

  • What you’re willing to tolerate to keep someone

This doesn’t mean every relationship suddenly becomes dramatic.

It means your relationship with vulnerability becomes harder to ignore.

You may realize:

“I don’t actually want this person. I want the validation I get from being wanted by them.”

Or:

“I thought I was being independent, but I was actually afraid to need someone.”

Or:

“I keep saying I want intimacy, but I don’t let anyone get close enough to know me.”

That’s the kind of realization Venus in Scorpio can uncover.

THEN VENUS RETURNS TO LIBRA

On October 25, Venus retrogrades back into Libra. (Cafe Astrology)

This changes the question.

After Scorpio asks:

“What is really happening underneath this?”

Libra asks:

“Okay. Now what are we going to do about it?”

Libra brings relationships, reciprocity, agreements, compromise, fairness and balance back into focus.

You may start reviewing:

  • Whether relationships feel mutual

  • How much you’re giving versus receiving

  • Whether you’re compromising too much

  • Whether your standards actually match your behavior

  • Whether your relationships reflect your values

  • Whether your financial choices are sustainable

  • Whether you’re choosing peace or simply avoiding conflict

This is where something that became emotionally obvious during the Scorpio portion may need to be put into practice.

THE SCORPIO → LIBRA STORY

Think of the retrograde as two questions.

SCORPIO:

“What is true underneath the surface?”

LIBRA:

“Does the way I’m living reflect that truth?”

For example:

You realize you don’t actually feel valued in a relationship.

Scorpio helps you admit it.

Libra asks whether you’re willing to have the conversation and change the dynamic.

You realize you’re spending money to maintain an image that doesn’t actually represent your values.

Scorpio exposes the emotional attachment.

Libra asks what a more balanced relationship with money would look like.

You realize you keep choosing people who make you chase their attention.

Scorpio helps you understand the attachment.

Libra asks why you’re continuing to call that a relationship.

That’s the kind of review this Venus retrograde is asking for.

VENUS RETROGRADE BY RISING SIGN

This is the section to pay the most attention to.

Venus will move backward from Scorpio into Libra, so your Rising sign gets two houses activated during the retrograde.

Read both.

The Scorpio house shows what Venus is asking you to examine at a deeper level.

The Libra house shows where the review moves next, especially around relationships, balance, values and choices.

♈️ ARIES RISING

Scorpio → 8th house

Libra → 7th house

Intimacy → partnership

This retrograde can take you from examining what happens beneath the relationship to questioning the relationship itself.

The Scorpio portion asks you to look at trust, vulnerability, shared finances, sexual intimacy and emotional dependency.

You may realize that a relationship isn’t actually the problem. The issue may be your fear of needing someone, your difficulty trusting, or an imbalance around emotional or financial power.

When Venus returns to Libra, the focus shifts directly onto partnership.

Now you have to ask:

Is this relationship actually reciprocal?

You may revisit agreements, relationship expectations, commitment, or an old dynamic between you and a partner.

For some, this can bring someone from the past back into conversation.

For others, it simply brings an existing relationship back to the negotiating table.

The lesson: intimacy requires vulnerability, but partnership requires reciprocity.

♉️ TAURUS RISING

Scorpio → 7th house

Libra → 6th house

Partnership → everyday life

Relationships are the first major focus.

Venus retrograde in your 7th house can make you reconsider what you actually need from partnership.

You may question whether a relationship feels equal, whether your standards have changed, or whether you’re staying connected to someone because the relationship is familiar rather than fulfilling.

When Venus returns to Libra, the focus moves into your routines, work and daily responsibilities.

That can reveal something important:

Does your relationship actually fit the life you’re living?

Love isn’t just chemistry. It’s also schedules, labor, responsibilities, money, habits and the way two people function together.

This can be a powerful period for noticing whether the relationship works in real life, not just emotionally.

The lesson: compatibility has to exist beyond attraction.

♊️ GEMINI RISING

Scorpio → 6th house

Libra → 5th house

Daily life → pleasure

Venus begins by asking whether your everyday life is actually supporting you.

Work, routines, responsibilities and habits can become areas of review.

You may notice that you’re spending too much of your life being useful and not enough of it actually enjoying yourself.

Then Venus returns to your 5th house.

Now the question becomes:

What do I actually enjoy?

Romance, creativity, dating, pleasure and self-expression can all come back into focus.

You may revisit a creative project, reconnect with something you loved doing, or reconsider a romantic situation.

This can also expose how often you’ve turned pleasure into another performance.

The lesson: a life that looks productive but contains no pleasure isn’t necessarily aligned with your values.

♋️ CANCER RISING

Scorpio → 5th house

Libra → 4th house

Desire → emotional foundation

The Scorpio portion brings romance, attraction, creativity and pleasure into focus.

You may discover that what you thought you wanted romantically isn’t actually what makes you feel fulfilled.

Old attractions can resurface, but the more interesting question is why you’re attracted to what you’re attracted to.

When Venus moves back into Libra, the focus shifts toward home, family and emotional foundations.

You may reconsider what kind of home life you want or notice family patterns influencing your relationship choices.

A romantic desire may lead you back to an emotional need.

The lesson: what you desire is often connected to what makes you feel safe.

♌️ LEO RISING

Scorpio → 4th house

Libra → 3rd house

Emotional roots → communication

The first part of the retrograde can bring family, home and childhood patterns back into focus.

You may realize that certain relationship behaviors aren’t entirely about your current relationships.

They’re connected to what you learned about love, safety and emotional expression growing up.

When Venus returns to Libra, communication becomes the focus.

You may need to have a conversation about something you’ve been carrying quietly.

This can also bring an old conversation, sibling issue or unresolved misunderstanding back for review.

The lesson: understanding where a pattern came from doesn’t automatically change it. You still have to communicate differently.

♍️ VIRGO RISING

Scorpio → 3rd house

Libra → 2nd house

Communication → money and self-worth

The Scorpio portion makes communication more psychologically loaded.

You may become more aware of what you say, what you don’t say, and the things you expect people to understand without explicitly communicating.

Old conversations can come back.

Then Venus moves back into your 2nd house, shifting the focus toward money, possessions, values and self-worth.

This is where the retrograde can expose the relationship between what you say you value and what you actually spend your time, energy and money on.

You may also reconsider what you’re charging, earning or accepting.

The lesson: your values are reflected in your choices, not just your beliefs.

♎️ LIBRA RISING

Scorpio → 2nd house

Libra → 1st house

Self-worth → identity

This is an especially personal Venus retrograde because Venus is your ruling planet.

It begins by asking you to examine money, values and self-worth.

What do you believe you’re worth?

Where do you undervalue yourself?

Where are you spending money to feel more secure, attractive or worthy?

Then Venus returns to your 1st house.

Now the review becomes much more personal.

Your appearance, style, identity, confidence and the way you present yourself may all come under examination.

You may change your mind about how you want to look or be perceived.

But the deeper question isn’t:

“How do I look?”

It’s:

“Does this actually feel like me?”

The lesson: self-worth has to exist underneath the image.

♏️ SCORPIO RISING

Scorpio → 1st house

Libra → 12th house

Identity → subconscious patterns

Venus retrograde begins in your 1st house, making the first part of this cycle very personal.

You may reconsider your appearance, identity, confidence and the way you attract people.

You may also notice that you’re changing what you want from relationships because you’re changing what you want for yourself.

When Venus returns to Libra, the focus becomes quieter.

Old emotional patterns, private attachments and unresolved relationship feelings can surface.

You may understand something about yourself that you couldn’t see while you were actively participating in it.

The lesson: sometimes you have to step back from a pattern before you can understand why you keep choosing it.

♐️ SAGITTARIUS RISING

Scorpio → 12th house

Libra → 11th house

The unconscious → your social world

The Scorpio portion may bring private relationship patterns to your awareness.

You may realize you’re still emotionally attached to something you thought you’d moved past.

An old person, memory or desire could resurface, but the point isn’t necessarily to revive it.

Sometimes something returns so you can finally understand why you held onto it.

When Venus moves back into your 11th house, friendships, communities and future goals become part of the review.

You may question whether the people around you actually reflect who you’re becoming.

The lesson: sometimes moving forward requires changing the environments that keep pulling you backward.

♑️ CAPRICORN RISING

Scorpio → 11th house

Libra → 10th house

Friendships → career

The first part of the retrograde asks you to examine your social world.

Who are you actually building with?

Which friendships feel reciprocal?

Which connections exist mostly because of history?

You may also reconsider a future goal.

Then Venus returns to your 10th house, bringing career, reputation and ambition into focus.

You may question whether your professional path reflects what you genuinely value.

Something can be successful on paper and still not feel satisfying.

The lesson: the future you’re building should actually belong to you.

♒️ AQUARIUS RISING

Scorpio → 10th house

Libra → 9th house

Career → beliefs

Venus retrograde initially brings career, reputation and ambition into review.

You may reconsider a professional relationship, your public image, or what success actually means to you.

You may also realize that some career desires were built around approval rather than genuine fulfillment.

When Venus returns to your 9th house, the deeper belief system underneath those ambitions comes into focus.

What do you actually believe makes a successful life?

What are you working toward and why?

The lesson: your definition of success comes from your values, not just your achievements.

♓️ PISCES RISING

Scorpio → 9th house

Libra → 8th house

Beliefs → intimacy

Venus begins by questioning your worldview.

You may revisit beliefs about love, relationships, spirituality, morality or what you think your life is supposed to look like.

An old belief may no longer fit who you’ve become.

Then Venus returns to your 8th house.

Now those beliefs meet real intimacy.

Trust, vulnerability, shared finances, emotional dependency and power dynamics become harder to separate from the values you’ve been reconsidering.

The lesson: what you believe about relationships eventually affects how deeply you’re willing to participate in them.

WHAT ABOUT EXES?

Yes, Venus retrograde can coincide with people or relationship themes from the past resurfacing.

But don’t reduce the entire transit to:

“Your ex is coming back.”

The more useful question is:

Why is this person or pattern resurfacing?

Sometimes it’s because there’s unfinished business.

Sometimes it’s because you’re finally seeing the relationship differently.

Sometimes it’s simply because you’re comparing the past with what you want now.

And sometimes the most important realization is:

“I don’t actually want this anymore.”

A return doesn’t automatically mean reconciliation.

It can mean closure, perspective or recognition.

WHAT ABOUT MONEY?

Venus also rules money and personal values.

During the retrograde, you may reassess:

  • Spending habits

  • Financial priorities

  • What you consider worth paying for

  • Income and pricing

  • Shared financial arrangements

  • Beauty and luxury purchases

  • The emotional reasons behind spending

This is particularly useful for identifying emotional spending.

Ask yourself:

What am I trying to feel when I buy this?

Security?

Status?

Attractiveness?

Control?

Comfort?

Belonging?

Knowing the emotional reason doesn’t mean you can’t buy it.

It means you’re making the decision consciously.

THE 2018 CONNECTION

Venus retrograde cycles have a repeating pattern, and the previous Venus retrograde in Scorpio and Libra occurred in October–November 2018. (Cafe Astrology)

That doesn’t mean your life will repeat what happened then.

But it makes 2018 worth looking back at.

Think about:

  • Who were you dating?

  • What were you learning about relationships?

  • What did you want?

  • What did you think you deserved?

  • What was happening financially?

  • How did you feel about your appearance?

  • What relationship patterns were emerging?

  • What did you tolerate then that you wouldn’t tolerate now?

You may notice a theme returning at a completely different level of your life.

HOW TO WORK WITH VENUS RETROGRADE

Don’t automatically act on every feeling that resurfaces.

Observe first.

If an old relationship returns, ask why.

If you suddenly hate something about your appearance, give yourself time before making a permanent change.

If you’re questioning a financial decision, examine the numbers and the emotional motivation behind it.

If you’re unhappy in a relationship, don’t immediately assume the relationship has to end.

Ask what specifically isn’t working.

Venus retrograde is excellent for reviewing.

You don’t need to force every answer immediately.

THE REAL QUESTION

Venus retrograde isn’t simply asking:

“Who do I love?”

It’s asking:

“What do I value enough to build my life around?”

And that includes the people you love.

The money you pursue.

The way you spend.

The way you present yourself.

The standards you have.

The compromises you make.

The relationships you maintain.

The things you refuse to tolerate.

By the time Venus turns direct in November, the goal isn’t necessarily to have everything figured out.

It’s to have a much more honest understanding of what you actually want, what you actually value, and where your current choices don’t match either one.image
