This page is about to research all those Allied air raids aimed to hit the German capital, the aircrews and the Berliners during WW2. We don’t look for any moment nor we have the objective to accusing its protagonists or any kind of revisionism of the past, only to expose the historical facts, relaying exclusively in primary sources and literature.
The city of Berlin was bombed more than 360 times during World War II (1939-1945). This personal blog tells the history of the German capital and its people before, during and after the Allied bombing campaign besides the war effort made by all those young British RAF and American USAAF crews sent to defeat Hitler through the ‘bombing war theory.’
Here you will find original research, previously unpublished material accompanied by maps, our passion for Berlin, and a strong commitment to historical preservation including the so often forgotten tech aviation aspects. Berlin Bombenkrieg has become the leading and only reference website exclusively dedicated to the air raids on the city, and the only place where you can find the exact dates of each raid and discover when individual Berlin buildings were damaged or destroyed during the war. Our work focus on the Allied bombing campaign against the city of Berlin during the 1939-45 war, with military, economic and social aspects and its consequences on the German capital and their people.
We research also the Allied bombing missions and remember those days’ experiences from RAF Bomber Command and USAAF aircrews.
About the author: Pablo López Ruiz is a historian and graphic designer who has studied and researched the air bombardment of Germany by Allied forces during WW2 for many years, specialising in the Berlin raids after living in the city for some years. His work was defended as Bachelor’s Degree Final Project as part of his BA in History at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2007, with further studies in Contemporary History at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin also.
