an open RFID standard and free tools for 3D printing filament
This isn't just a matter of technological choice; it's also an ideological choice about the kind of world we want for the future of 3D printing.
The spool's identity belongs to its owner, not to a printer brand. Yet every manufacturer designs its own locked-down RFID chip to keep you trapped in its ecosystem.
Anyone can already read or write data with the phone in their pocket. TigerTag is the alternative: an open, neutral, universal language for filaments. Designed for makers. Open to everyone.
Around it, I'm building a free sandbox — Tiger Studio, Tiger NFC Connect, TigerScale, TigerSpool — to show what an open protocol makes possible. 100% open source, built in my spare time, with the community.
Believe open source should win? A pizza keeps the movement going. 🐯
