🗑️ In Part 1, I handed two bags of trash to a poor Canadian homeowner, thinking their house was a garbage bin.
Surely, things couldn’t get any worse… right?
Wrong. So very wrong. 😂
😅 A Genius(?) Idea
After being rejected by the “garbage manager” (aka, angry resident), I sat down and thought hard.
“I know! They were mad because I didn’t sort the garbage!”
In Tokyo, we separate burnables, plastics, glass, etc.
So I reopened those nasty bags, sorting the trash with tears in my eyes. 💦
I had never hated chicken bones and beer cans so much in my life.
But finally, it was done!
✨ Round Two: Confident and Ready
I smiled, held the newly sorted bags, marched back to the “garbage manager,”
and politely handed them over…
🚨 And they got even angrier!
“Why didn’t they check the bags first?! I separated everything!!”
I was starting to lose my cool.
But there was no turning back now.
🌙 Mission: Midnight Drop
I refused to be the girl who couldn’t even throw away trash.
So, I came up with my boldest idea yet:
“I’ll just do it at night. Secretly. Like a ninja.”
That’s right. For several nights, I snuck around like a raccoon, carrying my trash under the moonlight 🌕, tiptoeing around snowbanks, and leaving it at the same house—the one I thought was a fancy bin.
Every morning, I checked: the garbage was gone!
I felt VICTORIOUS. I even thought,
“That manager is finally doing their job!” 😎
💥 The Truth Revealed
Then one day, I was leaving the house with another staff member.
To my horror… they were holding a garbage bag—in BROAD DAYLIGHT. 😳
“Wait—are they really just gonna go to that person’s house like that!?”
I followed, heart pounding.
But instead of knocking on the “green-roofed bin,” they walked past it, into the back corner…
…AND OPENED A MASSIVE METAL BOX‼️

🧱 It was the real garbage bin.
A gigantic, bear-proof metal dumpster, hiding behind the building.
🧠 It All Made Sense
Of course! This is Canada!
Where bears are real and trash needs serious protection.
How would a Tokyo girl like me know that?
The wildest thing I’d ever seen back home was a pigeon. 🐦
😂 Now I Can Laugh… Kind Of
Looking back, it’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever done.
At the time, I was mortified. But now? I can’t stop laughing.
That poor homeowner…
If you're out there—I’m so, so sorry!
💬 Final Thoughts
Living abroad means learning a whole new set of “normal.”
Mistakes like these? They’re part of the journey.
I’ve had many culture-shock moments, but this one?
This was my garbage-bin awakening.
🚪🔁 More stories from my Canadian life coming soon!
Stay tuned—and always double-check your garbage bins! 😆
