Love or hate it; AI art has been a valuable tool in helping us mock up some early images to help us promote our game before I put pencil to paper or enlist graphic artists. I'm currently working on a graphic novel-style storyboard to introduce the premise of Cultist. Using Night Cafe AI, I've been generating a series of images to help me imagine what the world of Cultists would look like. At the same time, the AI's "Modern Comic" filter creates fantasy-style cartoons reminiscent of a Ladybird picture book with results that are pretty close to the text input. However, occasionally, it produces "Art" of a more surreal nature, such as the picture of the "kitty princess" it made when I asked it to draw a picture of a princess with a cat.
While "Kitty Princess" was an interesting interpretation of the brief, it was not what I sought; It demonstrated that machines have not yet taken over from humans.
However, despite its random nature, the image made me laugh. I'm convinced the regal portrait of a tuxedo cat in midnight blue robes is how our cat Phoebe sees herself, and I will save this image for future use.
