Hello, friends!
Let me begin by thanking you all for your warm and encouraging support of my diverse and divergent activities.
Last week I had an absolutely wonderful time at Laity Lodge, my happy place, leading a retreat with the great Jessica Martin. Photos from the retreat are up, and the audio will follow in due course. When that audio is available, I hope it will include Jessica's homily from our Sunday Eucharist, because it was a memorable one.
I am not returning in any full way to my blog, but my dear friend Adam Roberts wrote a post about his atheism that I felt led, as we Christians say, to respond to. Here's my post.
There may be some activity on the blog in the coming weeks, but it will mainly be quotes with links. The reason: I am not currently up for writing full posts — the response to Adam is an exception — but the blog has over the years been my chief way of gathering interesting things I have read — and things I may want to write about in the future. I organize these by tag, and I have more than a decade of tagged material, so I have really been missing that organizational clarity, that linking of related ideas. I need to get back to that, anyway. Full blogging will resume around the first of next year, probably. I hope so, anyway.
I do have some essays forthcoming: one on anarchism in Harper's, one on truth-telling in The Hedgehog Review, and one on Oliver Sacks in The New Atlantis. More on those when they appear.
