Dear Readers,
Sometimes, people rewrite the past not because they don’t remember the truth, but because the truth is too heavy to bear. It’s easier for them to paint you as the villain than to face their own reflection in the story.
They will whisper, twist, and distort, not because you wronged them, but because they wronged you. And if they admitted that, they would have to confront the pain they caused, the bridges they burned, and the person they became in the process.
So, they lie to themselves, to others, and eventually, to the world. They wear their guilt like a cloak, but instead of carrying it, they try to throw it onto your shoulders.
They call you cruel so they don’t have to face their cruelty. They call you selfish so they don’t have to acknowledge their own selfishness. They tell a version of the story where they are the wounded, and you are the blade.
But the truth doesn’t change just because it’s ignored. And no matter how many times they repeat the lie, deep down, they will always know.
And one day when the noise fades and they are left alone with their thoughts they will have to live with it. But you? You don’t have to.
Let them tell their stories. Let them carry their guilt in secret. Because in the end, you don’t need their permission to be at peace.
