Tesla’s approach with manufacturing any of their vehicle is “Less is More”. They tend to do away with superfluous items to increase throughput of the manufacturing process. On the interior of the vehicle, the items that got the flick from Elon are:
Driver instrument cluster
Overhead grab handles
Sunglasses holder

The lack of such cabin ammenities are not that totally bad at all. In fact, this opens up options for third party car accessory companies to come up with creative options to address this gap. You might have heard of companies such as Tessories or Hanshow. If you are a DIY-er and don’t mind spending an extra time shopping around, then owning a Tesla will be heaven for you as you will be greeted with an abundance of accessories to personalise your car. However, if you’d rather spend that time doing something else and don’t mind that you lack those extra items then you won’t be disappointed. For the rest, you probably need to consider a different car.
One such item is this simple and affordable sunglasses holder that fits just next to the front interior cabin lights.
The manufacturer of this product found an ingenious way to install it in the cabin using smartly positioned clips to secure it in place.
Installation is very easy as well. All you need to do is position it such that the leading edge of the sunglasses holder follows the edge of the cabin light switch. Once you are happy with the position, gently push it in until you hear it click. You can reposition it left or right if you wish.
The colour of the material does not match the Tesla material 100% but I give it full credit for coming up with this solution. However, the steep $75 price tag for something that is made purely of plastic is probably too much.
