Hey supporters! I have been so busy behind the scenes trying to figure things out for the current book I’m writing (The Waiting Room) and with trying to get my first book, “Guilt” published by a real publisher.
For those of you who have read “Guilt,” I’m sure you’ve realized the formatting and spelling errors across the book. So I’ve been working on getting that fixed. However, the publishing company I reached out to gave me some criticism that has really made me think about this story…
They explained that the story was all over the place, it went from being kid friendly to PG13, there was no clear antagonist, scenes dragged for too long, everything was over explained, and that I missed too many opportunities to invoke fear from the reader because of this.
Although this critique kinda stung, I feel that it was very necessary for me to hear, especially because I do agree that Guilt was a bit rushed due to me being given a deadline to write it from the first publishing company I worked with. In fact, Guilt was only supposed to be one book instead of one “to be continued!”
So with all this being said, I am thinking about rewriting Guilt before sending it to a publisher. I do think that with my growth as a writer as well as a person, I can do so much better. What do you think? Should I completely change the story or do you like it as is with minor changes?
I will speak more on this via my podcast sometime this week!
