What if your first sentence is the reason nobody cares about your posts?
If your post isnât being read, thereâs a good chance your idea isnât the problem.
â Your first sentence is.
Most intros on social media:
â Sound like a school essay.
â Take too long to get to the point.
You have to remember, people donât hate you specifically.. Theyâre just speed-running the timeline like their life depends on it.
If your first 1-2 lines donât make them pauseâŠ
âł the rest of your post basically doesnât exist.
Test Yourself
Read your first line and ask:
â Would I keep reading if this was written by a stranger?
Reverse engineer your hook from there.
What makes you read a post when it shows up on your timeline?
 Â
3 SCROLL-STOPPING INTROs
Use these like Lego pieces. Mix and match them. Copy them. Whatever.
1) PUNCH EM
Say the thing. No warm-up. Hit em hard with a âpunchâ
â If your post starts slow, it dies fast.
â Your content isnât boring. Your intro is.
â If your post could be written by anyone, it will be read by no one.
2) REFLECT
Call out what theyâre doing in their head. This is where you make it about them. And they go âooo iâm being called out right nowâ. Peaks their interest
â Youâre overthinking your posts because youâre trying to sound impressive.
â You have good ideas. You just keep burying them under âcontext.â
3) SPARK
A tiny story / moment that pulls them in. This is where they relate with the you and read the rest of the post. Something they can learn from.
â I deleted a post today because the intro made me cringe. Hereâs what I changed.
â I rewrote one sentence and my replies doubled. It was annoying how easy it was.
â I used to start posts like a teacher. Thatâs why nobody talked back.
Â
USE THE â2-LINE GRIPâ
Your intro has one job:
â Earn the next line.
Hereâs the structure:
Line 1 = tension (a truth, a callout, a bold claim)
Line 2 = direction (why they should care)
BTWâŠ

Your CHALLENGE [ should you choose to accept it ]
Take your next post (or an old post) and do this:
â Write 5 first lines.
Donât edit. Just generate options.
â Pick the one that feels slightly âillegalâ to say out loud.
Not mean⊠Just bold, triggering!
â Read it out loud.
If it sounds like a brochure, rewrite it like a text. Read this.
â Post it.
Then actually reply to people like a human.
You can also use this prompt with a blurb you wrote if you want:
You are my punchy editor. Turn my blurb into a short, skimmable X post that stops people from doomscrolling and read my post.
GOAL:
Hook hard in the first 2 lines using the â2-Line Gripâ
- Line 1 = tension (bold truth / callout / strong opinion)
- Line 2 = direction (what the post will help them do)
Then deliver value with simple formatting.
INPUT BLURB:
[PASTE BLURB HERE]
RULES:
- Write in a direct, human, slightly edgy voice. No corporate tone. (Or describe the tone you want)
- No âIn todayâs world,â âHere are X tips,â âLetâs dive in.â AI sounding words
- Short sentences. No fluff. No generic advice.
- Make it feel like Iâm talking to one person, not a crowd.
OUTPUT:
1) Give me 5 hook options:
- 3 âPunchâ hooks (sharp statement)
- 2 âMirrorâ hooks (call out what theyâre thinking/doing)
- 1 âSparkâ hooks (tiny story/moment)
2) Pick the best hook and write the final post:
- Keep it 120â220 words max
- Use this structure:
Line 1: tension
Line 2: direction
Then:
â 3â5 bullets of concise actionable steps (not vague)
â 1 quick example or rewrite (before/after)
â 1 thought provoking question at the end that invites replies
3) Give me 3 alternate closing questions (to encourage people to think about whatâs shared in the post and leave a comment. Avoid questions that lead to yes/no answers).
QUALITY CHECK:
- If any line sounds like an infomercial or a âbuzzword,â rewrite it like a text message to a friend.
- Replace vague words (better, improve, optimize, leverage) with specific actions (cut, swap, rewrite, reply, post, test).Donât forget to reply and let me know if this was helpful.
See you on the next one
