My Two-Year-Old Learned To Spell Using This One SimpleToy
I was BLOWN AWAY!
While my daughter was still one year old, we bought her a cute and colorful alphabet puzzle having no idea if she would be interested in it yet or not.
She instantly loved it. She was so eager to learn how to put the pieces in the puzzle. After her wanting to watch me do it over and over and over and over again she soon was doing the puzzle with ease. She knew where every letter went. By simply saying each letter out loud to her as she placed them in the puzzle she knew all letters A-Z before she turned two.
A few months went by and I started to notice she was getting a bit bored with the puzzle. I decided it was never too early to start teaching her to spell since she had already mastered the alphabet.
I started by showing her the letter sequence of her first name by pointing to each letter in the puzzle. By the second day, she was spelling her first name (Luna). First by pointing to “L” then “U” and so on. I then taught her how to pull each letter from the puzzle, put them in a straight line, spelling her name. In no time she was doing just that completely on her own.
She is now two and a half and spells not only her first, middle, and last name but six additional words, and counting, as well using these alphabet puzzle pieces.
