À propos Anajara Laisa Amarante
I´m a chronically ill queer Brazilian artist living in Berlin. My main working tool in the last 15 years has been the moving body, intertwining my professional interests with the personal and political: queer, dissident bodies, marginalized communities. Since my health has been declining in the last 2 years, I decided to start publishing my texts, and doing it as an art practice – hopefully also making some cash out of it – as we all live in capitalism, and being sick is not a cheap business.
The focus of my artistic practice has been in the performing arts (emphasis on choreography) and also feeds on my background as a biologist and communication scientist – hence the interest and practice in writing. In the last years I have been also adventuring myself in the visual arts scene - in collective exhibitions.
As a Brazilian living in Europe, I´m interested in people of migrant backgrounds, the construction of identities and decolonization, ands the construction of joy, inclusio,n and diversity. As a performer, choreographer, events organizer, lecturer, and speaker, I´ve been part of numerous interesting events. Curious? Fell free to contact me =)
