Toronto, Ontario – Today, students from Humber College’s Art Administration and Cultural Management program, announce the release of Podcasting the Arts, Numbers, Income, Cash (PANIC). The podcast mini-series will consist of 5 episodes featuring co-hosts Nina Jeftic and Micaela Molina, joined by a different financial expert to discuss weekly topics. The series will provide digestible information and resources for artists to develop financial knowledge and tools. The first episode will premiere on April 9th, 2021 on artspanicpodcast.com, a website featuring different tips and resources for financial literacy in the arts and culture sector.
Artists are conditioned to believe that their "creative brain" is not a resourceful, business-orientated, and financially acute brain. To remedy this, artists need to have a space to seek financial health information and articulate questions that many may feel too shy or embarrassed to ask. This podcast aims to deliver bite-sized audio clips of answers related to arts finance questions, taking the fear out of seeking help. We aim to equalize, empower, and empathize with artists who have been dismissed for too long. How do I send an invoice? Do I need an HST number? What is a RRSP and do I have one? How the heck do I even start looking for a grant? This is a financial resource for artists. This is a space for you. Leave the P.A.N.I.C to us.
