I am writing this post whilst sitting on a beach on Islay on the west coast of Scotland, watching the Sun go down.
A lot has happened since my last post, I have been reworking my plans and thoughts, and due to the different styles of my poetry, I have decided to categorise them and turn them into not just one book, but 4.
I spent some time helping a family member through 23yrs of Heroin addiction. and through it I realised the link between Addictions and Mental Health. We spend so much time fighting the war on drugs, but the war on drugs will never be won, until we start to fight the war on Mental Health. So, from this I have decided that the book, which is s selection of Poetry and Songs written about Mental Health and Addictions, will be the first book that I launch.
Currently the book is finalised, I am at present raising funding to self publish the book, which includes costs for printing, a designer to help with the layout, the purchase of an ISBN number and barcode, Marketing, and Sales of the Book.
The book is called, Artistic Intention - The Sound of Poetry, Mental Health & Addictions. I will be using a small percentage of the sales of the book to re-invest into developing and creating the other 3 books, whilst the lions share of the profits will be put aside in order to help fund Projects that Sponsor Mental Health & Addictions workshops, Charitable Groups and generally good causes within these sectors which may not be eligible for funding from other organisations due to their size or status.
