A note for Supporters:
I wanted to let you know about a change to Are We Doomed? — and first, say thank you. You’re helping pay for the reporting, writing, sound, and production that go into every episode. That means a lot to me, and I want to make sure we keep making the show you chose to support.
To that end: Starting in mid-October, we’ll release episodes every other week instead of weekly. That’s biweekly, but not the biweekly that means twice a week (get it together, English).
We’re a tiny team, and these stories take time to get right. Giving ourselves a little more room between episodes will let us follow the reporting where it leads, work through the complicated bits, and keep the show thoughtful, fun, and occasionally infuriating. I want us to have the time to do all of that well.
Fewer regular episodes is a change from what you signed up for, though. So we’re also adding a $3-a-month membership option. If that works better for you, you can switch at doompod.com/support. I’ve also sent a separate note to annual supporters.
If you’re comfortable staying at your current level, thank you. That extra support helps us keep doing the work, and you don’t need to do anything.
No matter what, you’ll still get a monthly bonus episode, access to our Discord, and priority for questions in our mailbag episodes. I’ll announce our first mailbag later this week, so start thinking about what’s keeping you up at night, please! And stop by the Discord if you haven’t yet. I’d love to see you there.
We have all kinds of stories coming about dooms and bananas and solutions (sometimes they’re the same thing). There is, fortunately for the show and unfortunately for the world, no shortage of material!
