Let’s be honest: warning believers about AI while failing to teach discernment is spiritual negligence, not leadership.

Caution is wise, but fear of tools has never been biblical. Scripture shows God consistently using human instruments languages, scrolls, roads, printing presses to advance His Word. Artificial intelligence is no different: it is a tool, not a god. It has no spirit, no authority, and no voice apart from the one using it.
AI cannot replace prayer, Scripture, or the Holy Spirit but neither can commentaries, concordances, microphones, or livestreams. Yet the Church embraced ARC those without confusion. The danger is not AI; the danger is “spiritual laziness” and poor discernment. Tools don’t replace devotion undisciplined hearts do. What replaced God then and now is lazy prayer lives, shallow study, and insecure pulpits.
AI doesn’t threaten prayer.
AI doesn’t compete with Scripture.
AI doesn’t silence the Holy Spirit.
The question is not whether Christians should be cautious, but whether leaders will equip believers to use new tools with wisdom rather than warn them away out of unfamiliarity. If Paul used Roman roads, letters, and scribes to spread the gospel, the modern Church should not be afraid to use modern instruments so long as Christ remains the source and Scripture remains the standard!
The Church’s mandate is not to warn from a distance but to disciple with clarity and govern with wisdom. If Christ is truly Lord and Scripture truly our standard, no tool threatens that unless our confidence was NEVER in God to begin with. IJS
