It's been about 3 years since I properly worked on calculate.coffee. Life got in the way, the project sat there, and I kept telling myself "I'll get to it." Well, I finally did.
Here's what changed:
The home screen got a proper redesign. Methods are now in a swipeable carousel, each with a description so you actually know what you're picking before diving in. I also added 7 new brewing methods; Orea, Cezve, Hario Switch, more AeroPress and French Press recipes. The app went from covering the basics to covering most of what specialty coffee people actually brew.
Brew logging got a big overhaul. After you finish a brew you now land on a summary screen; total time, dose, water, ratio. With a direct button to save the session. The save form lets you rate the brew, add flavor notes, pick from predefined tags or create your own. You can go back to any saved brew and "brew again" with the same parameters. It became something you'd actually want to use daily, not just a calculator you open once.
The whole thing is also properly mobile-friendly now. It was always usable on mobile but there were layout issues on certain devices. That's been sorted out, it should feel like a native app regardless of your phone.
And one small addition I'm quietly happy about each recipe page now shows a few equipment recommendations. Kettles, grinders, scales. Amazon links, honestly picked, clearly labeled. Useful if you're looking to upgrade your setup.
