Maestro Ramón Martinez is a traditional Master of Arms teaching classical and historical fencing under the late Maître d’Armes Frederick Rohdes, one of the last masters to teach fencing as a martial art. In 1982 Maître Rohdes conferred the rank of Fencing Master on Maestro Martinez.
Maestro Martinez has spent years researching many of the detailed treatises of the most prominent European sword masters of the past in his effort to accurately reconstruct some of these systems in order to teach them as authentically as possible and preserve these rare martial arts.
Maestro Martinez is the world’s preeminent authority of the Spanish school of fencing La Verdadera Destreza. He has brought international recognition and respect for the Spanish school devoting more than 40 years to the research, reconstruction and resurrection of this unique and effective school.
Maestro Jeanette Acosta-Martinez began her training in 1982 and received her Master’s Certification in 2000. While her expertise encompasses French, Italian and Spanish schools of fencing, she is considered the foremost expert in the world on French Smallsword teaching seminars on 3 continents. Her passion for the weapon and her renowned annotation of The School of Fencing by Domenico Angelo has engendered a renaissance of the art and science of the French Smallsword.
