Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!

Oct 23, 2024

I'd like to say that having a 'travel hangover' after a Sunday-into-Monday red eye from Palm Springs is due to my age, but I remember feeling this way when I was in my 20s and 30s as well. Yes, the denial is strong in this one. :) But after a lowish key day yesterday (Tuesday) I'm up and at 'em this morning - a beautiful Autumn day in Westchester! The Palm Springs trip was excellent - the weather was incredible and I dragged the Mister around to seeing various friends. We both had a great time and will be going back maybe as soon as next spring.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Oct 22, was my annual acknowledgement of my dad's passing in 1981. I usually spend the day doing something that he enjoyed - I've been doing this for as long as I can remember (at least since my late 20s) and sometimes, like this year, I have to move it because while the spirit is willing, the flesh was still exhausted from the red eye.

Speaking of being exhausted, I'm a huge comic book nerd and have been looking forward to the release of the 1982 DC Style Guide for months (it was originally announced spring 2024), but there have been delays and delays and delays. I think they're on their third (or fourth) release date at the moment, currently 11/6/24. I'll believe it when I see it. Geez. A lesson to all business people - when the fans are excited about something, don't make a promise that you can't deliver. They should have said coming at Christmas 2024 and then 'surprise' it's early rather than say it'll be shipped in August and yet to go out as of mid-October. Under promise and over deliver is the best way to go. Oh well. My joy has mostly drained out of this after looking forward to it for so long but I suppose this is a 'white lady problem' (although for the price they're asking........ but I suppose you could make an argument that 'for the price they're asking', they want it to be done right... still it's a pain.

I'm probably also more annoyed than I would be given the contentiousness of this political season. I mean, it's always contentious but it does seem to be amped up quite a bit this year. Lots of talk about controlling women's bodies and how immigrants are eating small household animals and that kind of thing (like, how does someone being trans affect you? it doesn't so shut up) Anyway, I'm voting for the person that doesn't refer to the gentalia of deceased pro golfers, by the way, just in case there was any confusion as to who a gay, white, middle aged (ahem), male living in a same sex relationship in the New York City area would vote for. :)

Finally, this is this week's horoscope from my favorite site, Free Will Astrology - I can feel much of this but have already been doing much of it anyway, so it really weirdly resonated with me. I started taking a lot of trips starting in late August (right around the time the Style Guide was supposed to come out - look at me, I'm like a dog with a bone) and I'll be writing about that in the coming days. It's been so long since I've seen many of my friends (not only due to Covid but, you know, just life, as well) and this has been, so far, a treat. More soon. :)

Pisces: The Liberation Season is here. How can you take maximum advantage of the emancipatory energies? Here are suggestions: 1. Plan adventures to frontier zones. 2. Sing and dance in the wilderness. 3. Experiment with fun and pleasure that are outside your usual repertoire. 4. Investigate what it would mean for you to be on the vanguard of your field. 5. Expand your understandings of sexuality. 6. Venture out on a pilgrimage. 7. Give yourself permission to fantasize extravagantly. 8. Consider engaging in a smart gamble. 8. Ramble, wander, and explore.

Below is one of my favorite photos from the Palm Springs trip - the Mister and I took the Tramway to the top of Mount San Jacinto last Friday (Oct 18) which, coincidentally, was the day it reopened after a closure for normal repair work... I'm sure that's the truth and not a cover for aliens. :) See? A comic book nerd through and through. :)
