Recent events have me thinking...
Being a parent to adult children is, no question, more challenging than as youngsters. As a young mom, it certainly was difficult learning to try to raise this mini person and keep up with their constant physical needs. It was exhausting and stretching. However, I now see that meeting physical needs is nothing like having to support an adult child's emotional and mental challenges as they eagerly dive head first into "freedom and independence," only to find themselves often in waters much deeper and darker than they imagined. I'm in the season of life needing to support adult children in a different manner than before, and also watching my friends and relatives in my age group do the same. A good bit of advice I would give them (and me!) is this: Every day, truly, is a blank slate. There's no profit in beating ourselves up over yesterday or being frozen in fear of tomorrow. Wake up and be determined to write something wonderful in your day on your life slate while keeping in mind that actions today bear fruit tomorrow. As such, tomorrow can either be a stepping stone for something more or a day of pulling the weeds planted in prior days. Our choice. Write well. 🥰
