The Sacred Pause: Why sitting in silence could Save your sanity

Jun 19, 2025

As life gets faster, people frequently forget to sit quietly. Now that hustle has taken over, sitting quietly feels like a waste of time. However, spending time alone, in silence, with a purpose, is the best use of time. The best remedy is this.

It is currently being found by researchers that the more time spent in solitude and silence, the more productive the mind gets. You can be your best self in any situation by being conscious. By lowering stress and speeding up brain development, peace enhances health. Better sleep, lower blood pressure, more focus and attentiveness, and fewer racing thoughts are some of its negative effects. The Buddha articulated it in a simple formula: "Sit." "Relax." "Work." Spend time by yourself without getting tired. Don't worry about material things and live happily at the edge of the forest.

First, take a seat softly—so gently that you appear to have become a pool of tranquility, free of ambition, a destination, or a surge of desire. Sit down, psychologically and spiritually as well as physically, and relax until your breathing becomes easy, your body cools, and the fever of your constant desire subsides. After that, please continue with this piece. Such a job will be completely different in quality.

Remember the difference between loneliness and isolation. Never feel alone. You are never alone because God lives in the very core of your being and is always with you. Every time you are alone, you will hear His footsteps. When he comes and goes, he is quite quiet. While you are sound asleep, you will feel the hospitality.

The simple phrase that Buddha used to explain it is "Sit. Rest. Work." Spend time by yourself without getting tired. Live happily and without need at the edge of the forest.

You become the guest, and he is the one. After that, the Buddha says, "Live contentedly on the forest's edge." The forest is a symbol of joy that is unknown and unknowable since the unknown and the unknowable are also yours. Live a happy, want-free life.

Of the three sutras, "Sit, rest, work" is one. Let these three words have a profound effect on you. A peaceful, tranquil, and conflict-free setting is the cornerstone of existence. After that, the entire building will be built on it, but remember that yoga postures are a continuous process, so you don't have to sit in them. Rather than posture, the problem is one of inner relaxation.
