Orphen is a small Japanese novel series written by Yoshinobu Akita. It was adapted into manga, several television series (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen 2: Revenge, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (2020), Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Battle of Kimluck) and a later a video game.
Orphen is a trained Sorceror, from one of the best and most mysterious schools of magic, The Tower of Fang. Where both him and his sister, began as orphans trained in the art of sorcery in the land called Kiesalhima. The school is lead by the super anonymous Elders, not many of them are revealed in the series, and they are fairly unforgiving. The Tower is home to many elements including its large library, later Orphen and his party actually invade to try help and his sister, Azalie.
Volume one beginning the Spell of the Dragon series you embark on more adventures through the story of Orphen. When the most The Tower of Fang loses Orphen, their best student, they'll literally do anything to get him back. Unfortunately for them, Orphen has bigger plans than majoring in spell casting... tracking down a dragon, the Bloody August. Together with his young apprentice, a spoiled heiress, and two cranky trolls, Orphen must battle both the Bloody August and his old teachers.
The entire Spell of the Dragon Series is basically an entire quest of Orphen trying to help his sister regain her human form. Without giving too much away, so much is covered up and looks are very deceiving when it comes to why things happen to Orphen throughout his quest. The fight scenes are super fun, and the story itself is pretty good despite peoples opinions over its early years.
If you haven't checked it out, I definitely would give it a watch or a read! Not to mention you can actually play parts of the story.
