The Mic Drop Secret: Do You Subconscious ...

The Mic Drop Secret: Do You Subconsciously WANT to Stay Fat?

May 25, 2026

Shalom family,

Today, I am opening the doors to my private sanctuary and sharing a piece of revelation that gets to the absolute core of what we discuss here every single day. I am making this post entirely public because someone visiting my page today needs this exact deliverance, and the mainstream wellness industry is completely blind to it. If this word shifts something inside of your spirit, I invite you to step fully into our community by clicking the "Join" button at the bottom of this page to unlock our full library of unfiltered teachings, community discussions, and private voice notes.

There is a radical, uncomfortable question that completely transformed my personal journey and my coaching practice. It’s a question that almost no one has the courage to ask, but it is the exact key to breaking a cycle of yo-yo dieting, failed surgeries, and metabolic stalls.

When I worked on the ground level of the metabolic health industry as a coach, I noticed a very specific pattern. The vast majority of my clients were high-achieving, Type A perfectionists. They were used to controlling every aspect of their lives, but their bodies felt like the one area they couldn't conquer.

Beneath that rigid mask of control, there was often a devastating amount of self-hatred. And according to Dr. Henry Wright’s book, Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease, a fractured relationship with yourself—including self-hatred, guilt, and rejection—is a direct spiritual root cause of physical disease. You cannot heal a body you are actively at war with.

So, I stopped asking clients about their calories and macros. Instead, I started looking them in the eye and asking a radical question:

“Does a part of you subconsciously feel safer staying fat?”

The first reaction was always shock. But when we sat in the quiet, stripped away the perfectionism, and really searched the heart... almost every single person said yes.

This is exactly what Dr. Henry Wright breaks down so profoundly in his book, Exposing the Spiritual Roots of Disease. He teaches us that a fractured relationship with yourself—including deep-seated self-hatred, guilt, and rejection—is a direct spiritual root cause of physical disease and issues in the body. You cannot physically heal a body that you are actively, subconsciously at war with.

My Own Truth: Weight as a Fortress After Abuse

I can stand flat-footed and ask you that question because I had to face it in my own life during my 100-pound weight loss journey. When I dug deep into my own spiritual roots, I had to make a chilling, incredibly raw confession to myself:

Subconsciously, I liked being fat. For me, carrying extra weight wasn't just a lack of willpower—it was a physical fortress. When you have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse, your entire relationship with visibility changes. Subconsciously, those who have been abused often build a bigger body because they do not want attention from men. If being noticed or being desired was tied to violation and danger in the past, your subconscious mind decides that the safest place to be is invisible. It uses the weight to shield you from the male gaze.

But there was an even deeper, more painful conflict happening inside of me. While the traumatized part of my mind wanted to hide under the weight to stay safe from men... another part of me deeply wanted attention. I wanted to be seen. I wanted to be validated. I wanted to be loved and chosen.

It was a silent, agonizing war inside my own soul: the fear of being seen vs. the desperate desire to be known.

At the same time, carrying that weight created a secondary shield—people didn't expect much out of you. In a world that forces us to constantly perform, achieve, and be perfect, the weight became my subconscious boundary. When people look at you through the lens of fat bias—which is entirely real and affects how you are treated every day—they underestimate you. They write off your potential. And my flesh found a twisted comfort in that, because if people didn't expect much from me, I didn't have to carry the crushing pressure of their expectations. I didn't have to risk stepping into the massive, terrifying fullness of the purpose Yah placed on my life.

The Subconscious Sabotage

We have to realize that the human body is brilliant, and the subconscious mind is always trying to protect us from pain. If your subconscious mind believes that being thin means facing unwanted attention, dealing with triggers of past abuse, or carrying the overwhelming expectations of the world, it will sabotage your physical weight loss efforts every single time. You can take all the GLP-1 chemical shortcuts in the world—which function as a form of pharmakeia (Strong's Greek G5331) to bypass spiritual growth—and you can permanently alter your physical stomach with surgery. But if your spirit still believes it needs that fat to keep you safe from men and protected from pressure, your body will fight to keep it or claw its way right back to it the moment you stop the medication.

True restoration from the ground up means laying down the physical shield. It means realizing that you don't need fat to protect you from people when you have the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) to be your ultimate safe place and hiding place. It means healing the conflict between your trauma and your desires, stepping out of the comfort of being underestimated, and having the courage to become exactly who Yah created you to be.
