Cleo Update πŸ’šπŸΎ

Jul 02, 2024

After a long weekend and a few sleepless nights, we've had the all clear from the vets. Relieved doesn't even cover it. I don't know what or who was looking out for us somewhere out there but my god, I am counting my blessings so much right now.

Luckily during these attacks she was having, she was still somewhat herself, still eating, still drinking which was great and on Sunday she did start to improve but I watched her like a hawk. Monitored and made note of everything and we had her crate ready to rush off to the emergency vet if needed. All Sunday night she continued to improve and as of Monday there were no signs of any attacks but I was very keen to get her seen by the vets anyway regardless. I phoned them as soon as they opened and they fit us in with the head vet who owns the practice.

Ngl, I was shitting my pants, but I was trying to hold it together, be positive, think factually so I can make sure to explain everything to him, showed him all the videos etc and prepared myself for the worse. (Not that I could prepare for that 😭)

He did a full on health check, as well as some not so fun and invasive tests to be 100% thorough. And...she's perfect. Her minor heart murmur has gone, there's no sign of any issues with her nasal or throat cavity, her lungs seem clear etc etc. I just looked at him and cried. The RELIEF.

He said when she was having the attacks, it appeared to be coming from the throat and not the lungs or heart and even in distress at the vets she was still breathing normally. He believes she may of have something stuck in her throat that she was trying to clear or had in the past that she managed to clear but it had caused irritation leading to the cough or it could be inflamed from the high pollen count AND our shitty farm neighbours burning stuff for the last 3 weeks. But either way, although it's a sign of those 2 things I mentioned, along with countless other problems, she's great and so far isn't a concern for those diseases / issues.

As she is a sphynx, health checks are needed often and he said if I ever feel any form of concern just bring her in but to know that sometimes they can just have a cough. It's just hard because that cough can also be a huge number of fatal issues. He also said thank God the emergency vets told you they were overrun and that we decided to stay at home to keep her comfortable because that saved us a disgusting amount of money πŸ˜‚ as much as the money doesn't come into play with the babies, because I would find a way regardless to get them help, it's still a terrifying thought at the back of your mind that we're already up to our eyeballs in finances and outgoings right now let alone added vet bills on top of that. We're still in limbo about Luna's situation, so to of had 2 of them unwell would've sank us entirely financially let alone emotionally!

So, for now, she is in the clear and we get to keep spoiling her each and every day. We've got a new camera too just to keep an eye out and we'll just keep monitoring her each day. Thank you all for letting me speil again about this. I wanted to keep you all updated as I know you all know how much our babies mean to us.

I love you all, and I know Cleo loves and appreciates you all too πŸ’š
