As we depart 2025, full of expectations as to what the New Year might have install for us all, I currently have no confirmed plans as to where my travel plans might take me. The world of content creation requires considerable planning, with many months of research needed to ensure my content remains fun, informative and engaging. My recent video entitled ‘My 2025 Review’ did give indications as to where I wanted to visit, but just as last year, my plans were changed due to numerous external circumstances beyond my control.
My biggest issue apart from the actual costs of travel, is time. My daily work schedule is very long and having the energy to get out of bed at 1am on my day off and travel vast distances in order to create content is getting much harder. Over the past five years, I’ve enjoyed some exciting day’s out to Colone, Nuremburg and other destinations, but these come at the cost of trying to stay awake for over twenty-four hours. Trying to appear fresh on camera when still filming after that length of time is tough, but the end results are so worthwhile. My day trip to Wroclaw and Krakow nine months ago, was one of my most challenging day trips, for so many reasons. That video can be found on my transport channel.
It's my transport channel that I intend to focus on a little more this year, not for my love of busses, trains and planes, but because this type of content is actually easier to produce. Talking about my travels, focusing around what is happening at that moment, there and then, can create some drama, especially if I experience delays or other issues. I discovered this whilst travelling to Trieste back in the summer. Even though these videos are transport based, they also show more from behind the scenes of just how I travel, rather than using the edit to cut from one location to another. I also want to show more from the accommodation I stay at, from the very basic to something a little more spacious and different, whilst remaining within my travel budget. There will also be some history thrown in as well, to help keep the videos in line with my main travel content. It's surprising what can be discovered around a railway station, as you will see from my recent travels to Gdansk, when that video comes to my transport channel in a few weeks’ time. All my travel videos will be split between my two channels going forward, so I can very my content going forward, maximising my limited filming time.
