The kidnapping, killing, and persecution of Christians in Nigeria continue. Just this past Saturday, 47 women were kidnapped after going to the farm to harvest crops. As usual, the government, which is run mostly by Muslims, ignores it.

The moderate Muslims who do not personally involve themselves in terrorism directly keep quiet. And when someone raises the issue that this is being done by radical Islam—as it is—moderate Muslims stand up, protest, and attack Christians for saying that Islam has something to do with what is happening. However, anytime these terrorists conduct their raids, they always shout "Allahu Akbar," and they always target Christians. Yet, voicing concern and stating that Christians are being targeted is treated as Islamophobia.

Christians need to be smart. The devil has created a situation where he labels people:

* If you tell the truth about Islam, you are called Islamophobic.

* If you tell the truth about homosexuality, you are called homophobic.

All kinds of crazy labels and titles are attached to people who do what is right so that they can be demonized. It is strategic, and Christians need to be wise to it. We must not let the fear of being called names lead us to make choices that endanger our freedom to live as Christians in this world.

Christians all over the world must take responsibility for caring about every persecuted Christian globally. How are we the light of the world when we don't even look out for or care about our own? We don't look out for fellow Christians, nor do we help them when they are in need.

Interestingly, if someone insults the Prophet Muhammad, Muslims everywhere unite to oppose that person. If it happens in a Muslim-majority country, it is guaranteed that the person who insulted the Prophet will be executed. However, the simple act of Christians looking out for other Christians seems nonexistent. In truth, as the light of the world, we should be looking out for everyone—not just Christians.

The persecution of Christians in Northern Nigeria has gotten out of hand, and all Christians must rise up to stop it. We must be the voice of change, even in social issues. The devil has cleverly taken over the realm of social justice, and many social justice causes are now spearheaded by people with twisted views who stand against the Bible.

Consider how the feminist movement was hijacked. Many of its founders harbored hostility toward God and resented the fact that the Bible describes Him using masculine language. Leading feminists consistently criticize the Bible, and now that feminism is in full force, we see the collateral issues it has brought. Giving women the right to vote was a good thing, but look at everything else that came along with the movement.

Look at the civil rights movement as well. Treating African Americans as equal to white people is honorable and right, but that movement has also been subverted. Today, whenever you hear about "civil rights," it often centers around hostility toward white people and LGBTQ issues. You can hardly separate LGBTQ advocacy from the modern civil rights movement. How did that happen?

The devil regularly hijacks social justice movements with clear intent. Even within the church, look at what happened historically. The first-century church began with apostles like Peter, who was crucified upside down by the Roman government, and Paul, who was beheaded by Rome. Later, the Roman Catholic Church claimed Peter as its first Pope—yet it was the Roman government itself that executed Peter and Paul. We must be wise to these tactics and recognize that the devil takes good things and corrupts them.

We must actively work to bring righteousness into every sphere of life. We do not need deceit, but we do need action. What is the plan for Christians to step into leadership and politics worldwide? What is the plan to counter the dangers foretold in the Book of Revelation? We are not meant to sit back passively and watch events unfold.

The rapture is significant, but if Christians walk in God's power and ability, bad actors cannot easily hold sway because good people will be in authority. When righteous people hold power, society functions properly.

Consider what would have happened if Abraham had gone to Sodom and Gomorrah instead of Lot. Abraham had already confronted and subdued kings. Remember how God dealt with the king who tried to take Sarah? The smaller kings of Sodom and Gomorrah would not have intimidated him. If Abraham had settled there, his spiritual authority and expansion would have continued in Sodom and Gomorrah. He would have become a leader there, his household would have prospered, and the city might never have reached such total moral decay.

Think about the household Abraham managed. He had many servants—not in the sense of modern slavery, but as a structured household and labor system similar to modern employment. Abraham’s servants were valued members of his household; in fact, before Isaac was born, Eliezer of Damascus was in line to inherit his entire estate. That alone shows they were not enslaved people. Abraham did not own slaves, and those in his household were willingly part of it.

Similarly, Jacob served his uncle Laban. This reflects an apprenticeship model, much like the traditional apprenticeship system in Igbo culture in Nigeria. In that system, a master takes on an apprentice, provides food and shelter, and teaches them the trade. After a set period, the master provides startup capital so the apprentice can establish their own business. It is a time-tested model of entrepreneurship, not slavery.

When Jacob served Laban, despite the complex family dynamic, Laban ultimately settled him with livestock and wealth. That mentorship and settlement model offered more security and long-term path to independence than basic modern employment, where a worker can be dismissed at any time without startup capital.

We must understand history, life, and current events so we can position ourselves wisely. As Christians, we need to counter every effort to undermine faith and righteousness. What is our strategy to participate in leadership, policy, and global development? Other groups and figures operate with clear plans and strategies for the world; Christians must also unite with clear strategies to bring positive change and preserve life.

When we live out our identity, we will be active in governance, business, and community leadership. Do not accept the idea that Christians are meant to be poor—that mindset limits our ability to do good. When righteous people possess resources, the world benefits.

For example, I am currently staying in a shelter provided by Christian charity after my previous home was flooded. If believers had not funded and built that shelter, many people in need would have nowhere to go. Because of Christian generosity and resources, immense good is accomplished. The more resources Christians have, the more impact they can make. We should aim to build successful enterprises, hold leadership positions, and use our influence to advance the gospel, help those in need, and make the world better for everyone.
