Code of Ethics

Code of Ethics

Aug 15, 2024

Welcome.

At this precise moment, this post is quite short and conversational. As I learn more about what's possible, what's not a good idea, or what's frowned upon then expect it to get longer. Anyway:

If you buy a Tarot reading from a practitioner on Etsy, that reading is required to have a massive disclaimer on it that it's for "Entertainment only". So, readings from me will be presented as "for entertainment only"; I'm not on Etsy but I should get used to those protocols as though I were - these things have a habit of spreading.

My readings are for your highest good. I take them seriously; please do the same.

Nothing in your reading is set in stone. You have the power to change anything that comes from the cards.

Do have your question(s) in mind before we start please; there's nothing worse than asking "What can I do to help" and the querent replying "Erm...." and clamming up. If you've never had a reading before then please say so and I'll talk you gently through how things are going to work and will probably start with an Oracle card or two to get you used to having the conversation.

Some things do not need Tarot. "My partner's just given me a black eye and knocked out two of my teeth. Should I leave them?" does not need Tarot; it needs you to get to a refuge. You can have a reading afterwards, once you're in a place of safety.

I will not read for:

  • health/ medical/ pregnancy - see your doctor; it's their job

  • legal - see your lawyer; it's their job

  • financial - see your bank manager or financial advisor; it's their job

Third party readings can get messy so I try to avoid that sort of thing. "Is my partner sleeping with this person they've been flirting with for the last three weeks?" is not a great question, so expect that I'd rework it to address "What is the state of our relationship?" It's your reading; it needs to be about you.

I will read reversals if they appear because I need the practice. I don't seed the deck to cause reversals to appear. Sometimes I will look things up in a book; the meanings of 78 cards, reversals and pairings is a lot to remember.

If you like what I do, tell everybody. If not, tell me and I will make every effort to make things right between us.

As I said, this first draft Code of Ethics is both short and informal. We both need to understand that is highly likely to change.
