Installed "Storyteller" for more immersion to read and listen to books

Feb 17, 2026

As I now consume a lot a nonfiction books, one of my main problems with it is that it is rather hard to really be immersed when you're only reading the nonfiction book. That's why I tried to listen to audiobooks counterpart alternatively. Then I tried to listen while reading along the nonfiction book.

My current setup for reading is via MoonReader[1], and AudioBookShelf[2] here the AudioBookShelf media server is installed in my desktop computer at home. Its operating system is EndeavourOS and also acts as my media server for my Jellyfin[3] instance.

The habit of doomscrolling had become next to nil in the past months for me, that most of the news I get are from notifications from my phone. One of the notifications I got is from a Reddit post[4] asking about an app to listen to audiobooks as well as read the ebook and highlight things. It mentioned about Storyteller[5] which exactly does that.

I read the fine manual / RTFM and installed Storyteller in my computer / server using Docker Compose, setup a subdomain in my domain using Cloudflare and the tunneling using Cloudflared[6], and installed the Android app.

After putting my first audiobook and ebook I purchased (and ripped), I read the fine manual / RTFM again and do as instructed to align the audiobook and ebook. The attached video is how the app is in action. Looks great and it detects if there are differences in the audiobook and ebook too!
