When it comes to modifying an adventure bike, an aftermarket exhaust is often one of the first upgrades riders consider. But it's not just about making more noise—it's about improving the overall riding experience through better sound, premium craftsmanship, and a touch of individuality.
I've recently had the opportunity to fit the HP Corse SPS Rally 270 Titanium to my BMW R1300 GS Trophy, and after spending some time with it, I can honestly say it has completely transformed the character of the bike.
Italian Craftsmanship
HP Corse has been handcrafting premium motorcycle exhausts in Italy since 1993. The SPS Rally 270 Titanium is built using high-grade titanium with a beautifully finished carbon fibre end cap, giving it a purposeful rally-inspired look that perfectly complements the GS.
The attention to detail is exceptional. From the precision TIG welds to the quality of the materials and finish, it's obvious this is a premium product built to last.
Weight Comparison
One of the biggest questions riders ask is, "How much does it weigh?"
Here's how it compares:
BMW OEM Exhaust: 2.22 kg
HP Corse SPS Rally 270 Titanium: 2.94 kg
BMW OEM Akrapovič: 3.22 kg
While the HP Corse is around 720 grams heavier than the standard BMW exhaust, it's actually 280 grams lighter than the OEM Akrapovič option.
Personally, the slight increase over the standard exhaust is more than justified. The improved aesthetics, deeper exhaust note, and premium Italian craftsmanship make it a worthwhile trade-off. For riders who prioritise weight savings above everything else, HP Corse also offers the 4-TRACK Rally 270 Titanium, which is shorter and even lighter.
Sound That Brings the Boxer to Life
The biggest transformation is undoubtedly the sound.
The stock exhaust is refined and quiet, whereas the HP Corse gives the 1300 GS a much deeper, richer tone without being over the top. It adds character to the boxer engine while still remaining enjoyable for long-distance touring.
