Swedish Friends, Japanese Wheels

Sep 28, 2026

“Who are we looking for a vehicle for this time, Oksana?” asks Viktor from the Swedish foundation Blågula Bilen.

“For my friend from Kharkiv,” I say, showing him a photo of my friend with a grenade launcher.

“Oh! I see he’s here with his Swedish friend, Carl Gustaf!”

How else would I have learned that Carl Gustaf is a Swedish grenade launcher? Volunteering really does broaden your horizons — though not always in the directions you had planned.

We found a vehicle for the fierce guys from the 3rd Assault. Not a Swedish one this time, but a Mitsubishi L200 — our longtime favorite, tested by life and roads. So I’m asking for your help, my dears, with this workhorse. Our share is $3,700, and our friends from Blågula Bilen are covering the same amount.

Without a vehicle, things are objectively tough. Some things are simply physically hard, and some are completely impossible. Logistics, evacuation, bringing in what’s needed — for some reason, none of it wants to do itself.

Once upon a time, we mostly valued Sweden for Volvo and IKEA. Now the list of favorites has expanded quite a bit, including our dear friend Carl Gustaf. Such is life. Join in, friends. Thank you for any amount.

Переможемо.
