These headlines catch my eye too often ...
" Group of missing teen hikers, found using iPhone feature"
"Missing Sunol hiker and dog found"
... but it's these that break my heart:
"Missing Colorado hiker, 23, found dead in Rocky Mountain National Park"
"Body of backpacker missing in Yosemite National Park is found"
Everytime I read a headline like this, I think to myself: "If only they had the Garmin inReach Mini with them! They could have called for help and would have been home within hours, not days .... or never. But last year, Apple added a HUGE service to their iPhones: the ability to send SOS messages over satellite. It already helped many people, including the group of teens in the headline above. It's just one more way to be safe out there! This year, Apple announced some other major updates, like the ability to message people over satellite! So I dove deep into the features of the iPhone with iOS 18 and the Garmin inReach Mini 2 to compare them side by side! They both safe lives. They both let you talk to your loved once when you're off the grid, but there is so much more to it.
I hope that you all are safe out there. I hope that you have one of those services, or something similar, to call for help when it matters most.
Take good care, my friends! And don't forget to have some amazing adventures this summer (or winter, if you're in the southern hemisphere :) )
