Update: Keeping the Record

I write things down because I don't always remember well. That habit started as survival. Now it is the work.

This month has been about paper. I picked up a client file I had waited a long time to see. It holds the paper trail from my second eviction. I said I would open it and share what I can, and I'm still going through it, page by page.

I also asked for the records about my own housing case. Public records exist so a person can see what has been written and decided about their own life. I want to see mine, and I'd rather stand on facts than on my memory.

Last winter I kept every email I sent about where I was and why. When you have nothing else, you keep proof. I am still doing that. Every notice, every reply, every date goes into the stack.

I'm back at work, tired, and still writing. The essays live at kosmicquill.substack.com, free to read. This page stays the honest ledger.

Write it down. Keep the record. Keep going.
