Hi friends,
Time for another honest update, because things have moved since "Two Notices, Two Timelines" and you deserve the current picture, not the old one.
Where the dispute stands
The notice on my door says I owe $1,600. Here is what the paper trail says: I made six rent payments in July totaling $908.32, through PayPal and Venmo, with receipts and transaction IDs for every single one. Not a dollar of it was credited to my balance.
This week I put the full set in writing to the realtor and the owner: five PayPal receipts, my official July statement, and the Venmo screenshot. Whatever happens next, the record now speaks for itself.
Who is in my corner
Bay Area Legal Services has my case, and I have emergency assistance applications in with Metropolitan Ministries and EPIC. I am learning that the system moves slowly, but it does move. Being documented and early beats being scared and late.
The plan
I am still on track to be out of this apartment by August 31, as agreed. What comes after is not a lease. The plan for September is a no-lease weekly hotel near my job at the call center: a room I control one week at a time while I regroup, keep my rental record from taking another hit, and let the dispute and the assistance applications run their course.
It is not the ending I would have written. But a bridge is not a destination. It exists to be crossed.
How you can help
Same as before: you reading this is already something. Sharing resources helps. Sharing this page helps. And if you are able to support the work here, what you are buying me right now is a roof with no strings attached, one week at a time, and the space to keep writing honestly from inside it.
The vessel is not broken. It is being rebuilt in public, with receipts.
Thank you for being here,
Traie
