Life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them. Today, mine came in the form of a phone disconnection—Google Fi cut my service right in the middle of the day. I’ve reached out to them a couple times, hoping they’ll let me catch up on payments once my first paycheck hits. It’s a long shot, but sometimes asking is the first act of resilience.
If you’ve been trying to reach me on my usual number, you probably won’t get through. Some carriers allow incoming calls even when service is suspended, but I’m not taking chances. Best bet: use my Google Voice number. If you don’t have it, just ask—I’ve had it for years and plan to keep it stable. I know the number changes have been confusing lately, and I appreciate your patience.
Now for the good news: I just qualified for housing assistance through the SHIP program here in Tampa. That’s a game-changer. It means I can finally start looking for a place to rent—ideally near Net Park, where I start work on November 3rd. The program requires me to stay within city limits, which works perfectly. I’m looking for something simple and affordable. A bed, a desk, and a chair—that’s all I need to build from.
If you know any landlords or housing leads near Net Park, I’d be incredibly grateful. I’ve already submitted my offer letter, so I’m eligible to move forward. The goal is to get settled before my first day so I can start strong and stable.
Once that first paycheck comes in, I’ll be able to reactivate my phone and hopefully stop the number-switching cycle. It’s been a tough stretch, but things are finally starting to shift. Sometimes you just have to weather the storm to reach the sunshine.
