New York City, New York (AA) - Infamous former fashion tycoon, Peter Nygard, 80, will be extradited to the United States to face criminal proceedings whether or not he is convicted by Canadian law enforcement.

"If Nygard is convicted and sentenced to time in custody in Canada, he would still be sent to the United States to go through the trial process there before serving his time in Canada."

Nygard was charged with nine different counts of sex trafficking and racketeering by the Southern District of New York on December 15, 2020.
Nygard was arrested in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on December 14, 2020 by Canadian law enforcement after the US government requested that Canada issue a Provisional Arrest Warrant subject to their extradition treaty.
Nygard coerced women and minors into sexual encounters by force or drugging the victims before attempting to manipulate and intimidate them into silence.
"Pamper Parties" were hosted at Nygard's properties in Marina Del Rey, California and the Bahamas, whereat he would offer free food, alcoholic drinks, and massages.
Nygard would use the lure of modeling contracts or jobs in the fashion and modeling industries to seduce victims.
In addition to sexually assaulting and raping victims, Nygard would trade them for sex with business associates of his, often receiving a different woman in return.
Nygard was arrested by police for forcible confinement under the Extradition Act and allegations against him in the United States date back to 1977. The accused rapist was denied bail in January and faces a class action lawsuit in the United States that includes some 57 women.
Peter Nygard is connected to Jeffrey Epstein through their mutual friend, the Queen's favorite son, Prince Andrew.
Prosecuting Peter Nygard for the SDNY are Assistant United States Attorneys Jacqueline C. Kelly, Allison Nichols, and Celia V. Cohen.

Conspiracy To Commit Sex Trafficking
Sex Trafficking of a Minor and by Force, Fraud, or Coercion
2 counts of Sex Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion
Transportation of a Minor for Purpose of Prostitution
2 counts of Transportation for Purpose of Prostitution
Transportation for Purpose of Prostitution and Illegal Sexual Activity
Nygard's son, Kai Bickle, took his mother's last name and renounced both his father and paternal inheritance.
Federal Justice Minister David Lametti gave the extradition order on Tuesday March 22, 2022.
