I Am My Only Competition

When I started my Virtual Bookkeeping journey, I wasn’t trying to outshine anyone. I had no educational background in accounting, and no roadmap to follow. But I had one thing—I was willing to outwork the person I was yesterday.

In the beginning, I struggled. I had to learn everything from scratch, navigating QuickBooks, financial reports, and reconciliations on my own. Every challenge felt like a test, but instead of looking at others for validation, I focused on improving my skills one step at a time.

Then, the milestones started coming. I landed clients, built my credibility, and eventually became ranked in the Top 5% on LinkedIn’s QuickBooks Assessment Skills globally. My work evolved beyond bookkeeping—I was leading financial analysis for property portfolios, overseeing daily accounting operations, and helping businesses gain financial clarity.

I never stopped pushing myself. When I saw a gap in the market, I created Virtual Officemate, a program designed to guide new bookkeepers who were stuck in their journey. It sold out in less than an hour. I wasn’t trying to be better than other mentors—I just wanted to provide the kind of support I wish I had when I started.

Opportunities kept coming. My content reached thousands, then hundreds of thousands. My Facebook reel hit a million plays, not because I was competing with anyone, but because I was sharing something real—my journey, my lessons, my wins and struggles.

Even as a Fractional CFO and Financial Controller, I still see every project as a chance to grow. Every budget I manage, every financial report I refine, every strategy I build—I do it knowing that my only competition is who I was yesterday.
