Whether you call yourself an entrepreneur, intrapreneur, solopreneur, self-employed, traditional employee, or just "Bob", the entrepreneurial mindset isn't just something that serves those who go at it on their own. It's also invaluable to those within organizations.
Having an entrepreneurial mindset means that you're an optimizer, a problem-identifier who doubles as a problem-solver, you're someone who sees the glass half-full/empty and figures out a way to turn the faucet on.
Sure, the entrepreneurial mindset is perfect for those who want to build a business or generate income with a side-hustle, but it's so much more than that. People within organizations who can think outside of the box are those who can create synergies that the 9-5 zombie who just clocks in and out could never dream of.
Cultivating this mindset gives you a competitive edge that allows you to bust the bell-curve and elevate those around you.
I found this graphic in my feed yesterday and it's bounced around LinkedIn like a beachball at a Nickelback concert so it's nothing new to anyone. However, it think it highlights the factors that makes those with an entrepreneurial mindset so unique & valuable. And, maybe on # 6 you're not in the position to hire people (most of us aren't) but it still applies in that we can choose to surround ourselves with people we admire.
So as you set out today, maybe you take this "soft" skill and build that side-hustle you've been dreaming of and set off on your own. Or, maybe you look at your "boring" stable job and recognize all of the opportunities within your organization to optimize and innovate.
Pitch new ideas.
Simplify.
Create.
Inspire.
Be bold.
Challenge the status quo.
Never settle for "good enough".
You'll thank yourself (and so will your bosses & stakeholders) because even though mindset can't be measured, gauged or quantified, it's priceless.
