The art of the game

The art of the game

Jun 19, 2020

I realise I haven’t blogged in a really long time. Life has just been crazy and I’ve been battling to keep my head above water but here I am, gasping for breath but still kicking.

I volunteered to stay in ICU until the end of September so that I can be in a position to help when (not if) a second wave hits. This morning I made a comment to a fellow twitterer that it feels like the medical community as a whole and the government are playing two different games entirely. Whilst those on the front line are playing Battleship, the government are playing Charades. One is claiming victory and taking the credit whilst bumbling through daily briefings between business lunches and champagne dinners, the rest of us are on edge; watching and waiting, Wondering when the Next tsunami will strike. We can plan and prepare but we still know so little about this novel virus that we can really only do so much.

Irrespective of the fact that we are not being lead from the front but from the sidelines we continue to move forward. Medical science is leading the way and Entrepreneurs continue to fill the gaping holes left by those in Whitehall who seem to be more focused on vanity than protecting those who have already sacrificed so much.

Whilst the government flap their arms around wildly gesticulating, the rest of us are busy trying to figure out what it is they’re trying to say.

I always did hate Charades.
